Obituary For Maudie Barron

TYLER--Memorial services for Maudie Barron is scheduled for 11 am, Saturday, June 29, 2024 at New Birth, Tyler (805 N. Confederate, Tyler, Texas) with Elder Bobby Woods, eulogist under direction of John R. Harmon Undertaking Company.

Maudie Mae Kemp Hall-Barron was born to the late J.B. and Ethel Smith Kemp on March 20, 1944, in Bullard, Texas. She received her early education through the public schools in Bullard, Texas and Emmett J. Scott High School in Tyler, Texas. In her early life, Maudie married the late Herman Hall Sr. and they relocated to Dallas, Texas, to their union, two children were raised. Maudie Mae owned several café businesses in the Dallas area for many years. Maudie Mae’s passion in life was to be the “LIFE” and “LAUGHTER” of any gathering. Maudie Mae was one of the family’s greatest cooks. She specialized in barbecue. Later in life, she relocated back to her hometown, Tyler, Texas. After settling in, she helped her niece re-open a well-known café on the corner of Morris Street and Palace Street. Shortly after the Butts family retired from the business, Maudie Mae and Sharon Wickware worked closely to keep the corner of Morris Street and Palace Street up and running with hot fish plates and more. Maudie Mae didn’t let anything stop her from showing friends and family a good time during gatherings. She had a few rules, and one main rule was keeping the area CLEAN. Maudie Mae would say “You may not have much, but what you got keep it clean”!!

Maudie Mae transitioned on Wednesday, June 19, 2024 into eternal rest. She was preceded in death by her parents: J.B. and Ethel Kemp, husband: Gus Lee Barron, five brothers: J.D. Kemp, J.W. Kemp, Johnny B. Kemp, Levolia Kemp, Emanuel Kemp and one sister Irene Coffer.

Left to cherish her most precious memories: one daughter: Sheila Dewberry of Tyler, Texas, one son: Herman Wayne Hall (Ledetrice) of Dallas, Texas, two stepdaughters: Barbara Hall-Crowe of Longview, Texas and Connie Hall-Richardson of Arlington, Texas, one stepson: Herman Hall, Jr. of Longview, Texas, one sister: Bishop Dr. Mable L. Berry (James) of Tyler, Texas, two brothers: Bob Kemp of Tyler, Texas and Sam Kemp, Sr. of Dallas, Texas, thirteen grandchildren, twenty-eight great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
