Obituary For Gloria J Porter
( January 21, 1947 – January 2, 2025 )
TYLER--Graveside services for Ms. Gloria J Porter, 77, is scheduled for 11 a.m., Saturday, January 11, 2025 in St. Louis Cemetery with Rev. Rodney Curry, eulogist. Memorial service will be on Saturday at 12 noon at College Hill Baptist Church under the direction of John R Harmon Undertaking Company.
Ms. Porter was born on January 21, 1947 in Tyler, Texas to William and Essie Porter and transitioned on January 2, 2025.
She was a graduate of Emmett Scott High School and a life resident of Smith County. She retired from Tyler ISD and a member of College Hill Baptist Church.She served as secretary, member of the choir, assisted with the boy scouts, children's choir, valentine's day program and the treasured elders.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brother. Left to cherish her memories are brothers: Terry Porter and William R Porter both of Tyler; aunt: Helen Clark Slater (Jack) of Fort Worth, Texas; great-great nephew: JaQuan Jones of Tyler and a host of nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends.
Public viewing will be Friday, January 10, 2025 from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
