Elizabeth Caswell Young went home to be with our Lord on Sunday February 9, 2025. Elizabeth, or "Sweet" as she was affectionately called by her family, was born August 7, 1945 in Tallahassee, Florida as the sixth child out of twelve to her late parents, James Caswell and Elizabeth Thompson Caswell.
Elizabeth graduated in Tallahassee, FL from the Old Lincoln High School in 1963 and furthered her education at Florida A&M University, majoring in Spanish and minoring in French. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in December 1966.
Elizabeth married Frederick C..Young III in August 1968 and their union created five children: Fred D., Linelle, Lori, and twins Emerald and Edward. She was a proud and loving mother.
Elizabeth was a retired educator in the Duval County public school system as a foreign language teacher, primarily teaching Spanish. Her longest tenure was at Mandarin High School.
Elizabeth now joins her cherished family that proceeded her in death: husband of 55 years, Frederick Charles Young III ; youngest son, Edward; her loving parents, James and Elizabeth Caswell; five brothers, Elijah(her twin) , Willie James, Clarence, Maurice, and Melvin; four sisters, Henrietta, Verdell, Yvonne, and Dorothy.
Loved ones left here to hold dear memories of Elizabeth are: oldest son, Frederick Douglass; oldest daughter, Linelle Jenkins (Donald) of Jacksonville, FL; daughters, Lori Smith (Jarrett) of Port St. Lucie, FL, and Emerald Miranda (Gerard) of Philadelphia, PA; brother, General G. Caswell (Gladys); sister, Brenda Caswell of Tallahassee, FL; a host of loving grandchildren, Nia, Kevin, Jadyn, Jacob, Leah, Kristyn, Xavier, and bonus grands; mother-in-law, Mary E. Young; sister-in-law, Rosemary Johnson (Ronald); brother-in-law, Jerone Young; and nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
Viewing and Visitation will be Monday, February 24th 5-7pm at James Graham Mortuary 3631 Moncrief Rd, Jacksonville, FL

My condolences go out to the family of Mrs. Elizabeth Caswell Young. Mrs. Young was my Spanish teacher back in High School. Mandarin High. I loved going to Mrs. Young's class. It was my favorite class to go to. Mrs. Young was so sweet and funny. She made Spanish so much fun to learn. I will remember her always. 🙏🏾♥️
