Darlene E. Ramsey
On December 19, 2022 our beautiful Mother passed with grace in the presence of her Lord, loving children, family and friends. Miss Ramsey’s Memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 7, 2023, 3pm, at Allen Temple, 2101 Lowe St, Tampa, FL 33605. Rev. Dr. Bessie L. Moehead Pastor, of Hoods Temple A.M.E. Zion, Officiating. Darlene was born on July 22, 1954 to Reverend Phillip E. Ramsey and Clydell Jones-Ramsey. She was raised in Tampa Fl, graduated from Hillsborough High and attended Tampa College. Formative years were spent in Pennsylvania where she attended nursing school and worked for several non-profits. Darlene later returned to Tampa, worked for JPM Chase, Amscot Financial and retired in 2008. Miss Ramsey was a devoted lifelong member of Hoods Temple A.M.E. Zion and their church choir. Affectionately known as “Mama Rap,” Darlene was outgoing, loved to sing, cook, dote on her grand/great grandchildren and watch anything related to Tyler Perry. Darlene is preceded in death by: Mother, Clydell Jones Ramsey, Father, Rev. Phillip E. Ramsey; Grandparents, Oliver and Gusscilla Jones; Siblings, Veronica, Phillip Jr., Pamela and Patricia Ramsey, Gwendolyn Russell and Nora McFadden; Uncles, Arthur “AJ,” Elray, James E., Arthur T. and Oliver Jones;Aunts, Gloria Jones, Melody Wallace Jones and Theresa Lott Allen; Niece, Evelyn Williams; Granddaughter Cornecia Smikle. She leaves to carry her legacy and memories: Daughter, Felicia Ramsey; Sons, Aston Corey, Shon and Donesian “DJ” Smikle; Sisters, Twanda Ramsey, Veronica and Sharon Randall, Sonia Cargile and Twyla White; Grandchildren, Shantica Holder, Aiyana Kai and Naima Smith, Daijise Courtney, Shon, Donesian Jr., and Jairon Smikle; Nieces, Aniquia Robinson, Carthenia Turk, Breanna Russell and Kizzy McFadden; Nephews Lenier, Lavron “Tony” and Eric Robinson, Roger McFadden, Frank and Demetrius Rose, Eddie, Arterio and Lobie Russell, Curtis and Titus Williams; Great grands; Jaylen, Latrell, Kalea and Journey; Ex-Spouse, Christopher Esperance Augustin; Special friends, Toy and Johnathan Culbreath, Valerie Polnitz, Lucy Russell, Cynthia Bass and Jessica Zaccanti; Goddaughters, Denise Molina, Kristy Graham and a host of friends, family and members of the community. I had the pleasure of meeting Ms. Darlene many years ago when I attended middle school with Felicia. I'm sorry for your loss.
