Obituary For Kirt Clark

IN LOVING MEMORY OF KIRT CLARK

(Date of Passing: Sunday, August 6, 2023)

With a heavy heart, we remember Kirt Clark, a man of quiet strength whose presence spoke volumes to those who truly knew him. Kirt's unassuming nature meant you might not have noticed him unless he wanted you to, but those he allowed into his world were considered truly special by him.

Kirt's love language was one of actions and meaningful gifts. He showed his care and affection through gestures that spoke volumes. It was not uncommon to find a handful of quarters, saved over months, in random places in his daughter's apartment after a visit—reminders of his thoughtfulness. His love knew no bounds; he surprised Reva with a new car for her daily commutes after a simple invitation to go for a ride.

But there was another side to Kirt, a side you wouldn't want to cross. A fierce protector of his family, he showed an unyielding strength when it came to defending his loved ones. His disabled daughter's access needs were not to be disregarded, and any teacher who dared disrespect her would find themselves at the receiving end of the infamous "Kirt Clark finger," a gesture that spoke volumes without uttering a single word.

Kirt's journey was one of unwavering commitment to his family. As a husband, he shared 45 years of a loving and enduring partnership with Reva. As a father, he displayed remarkable strength and guidance to his two daughters, Donna and Latoya. His bond with his grandson, Durrell, was a beacon of his role as a loving grandfather and mentor. The loss of his granddaughter, Shanekia, left a void he carried in his heart.

Kirt's connection with his sisters Rachel Woods, Alice Vincent, and Francis Curry ran deep, shaping the foundation of a family that thrived on love and mutual support. Together, they wove a tapestry of memories that will forever endure.

As we gather to remember and celebrate Kirt's life, we reflect on the unique tapestry he wove. His impact on those around him was profound, a testament to his quiet strength and unwavering devotion. Kirt Clark's legacy will forever be etched in our hearts, a beacon of love, protection, and cherished memories.

A memorial service was held on Saturday, August 19, 2023 at 11:00 AM at First Missionary Baptist Church, located at 370 Chickasaw St, Dothan, AL 36303.
