Mr. Jon Eric Poindexter, 60 years old, transitioned peacefully to eternal rest on October 13,2021 in Durham, NC. He was born July 10, 1961 to the late Edward Garland Poindexter Sr. and Margaret Winonia Poindexter in Lexington, Virginia.
Eric possessed a love for the bass guitar and playing and listening to funk music.
He is survived by his wife Charlotte M. Poindexter and their two daughters: Miss Charla Sadie B. Poindexter and Miss Danielle Wynona Poindexter of Durham, NC. and survived by one grandson Master Jameson Maxwell Bowe.
He is survived by his brother Rodney Edward Poindexter, Sr. (Sharon) of Burlington, NC and his nephews and nieces Rodney Edward Poindexter, Jr. (Kendal), Malaika, Nasira, Kiana, Jamell, Carlos M. Max (Catreina), Destiny A. Max, Nyah Tabron and Kayla Max and a host of many other nieces and nephews. He's also survived by one sister-in-law, Katherine A. "Angie" Max of Durham, NC and three brother-in-laws: Philip Ervin (Diana) of Morganton, NC, Kenneth C. Max of Dallas, TX and David A. Max of Durham, NC, and other family members.
He is preceded in death by his brother Edward Garland Poindexter, Jr.
His family is deeply grateful for the devoted care of Dr. Barbara Sheline and Transitions LifeCare.
In tears we saw you sinking, We watched you fade away, Our hearts were almost broken, You fought so hard to stay, But when we saw you sleeping, So peacefully free from pain, We could not wish you back, To suffer that again.
Memorial service will be held at Holloway Memorial Funeral Home, 2502 NC Hwy 55, Durham, NC on Wednesday, October 20, 2021 at 11:00 am.
Masks are to be worn and social distancing required at all meetings with family, friends and services.
