LETTER FROM THE FAMILY: Good Afternoon Family and Friends, I'd like to start by expressing our sincere gratitude for all of the love and messages received on behalf of my family. It is indeed a very hard blow and very difficult time for my family. We appreciate everyone who took time out to think of us and remind us how much my mother was adored by those who got the pleasure of being in her life. We appreciate all the stories and memories. I will get back to you guys I promise.
Although short notice, we will be having a Life Celebration for my mother Gladys Rivera on Sunday, April 14th at 4pm until. Bethesda Ruritan Club 1714 S Miami BIvd Durham, NC 27703
If anyone would like to send anything for the family you can pm for arrangements. This day will be a celebration, NO BLACK ATTIRE please. Black bottoms ok. We want to see bright colors. If you loved my mom and she meant enough to you to come and pay your respects, you are welcome to come. This day is about my mother. We are gonna send her off with light and laughter and music because she gave that to so many of you.
If you have any old pictures together that you would to share please print them and bring them! Thank you all.

My mom was an amazing person. She had a fire in her eyes and passion for life and her loved ones. She couldn't see anyone hungry or without a home. She was always quick to give a compliment or lend a helping hand. She was smart, gorgeous, vivacious, and very sassy. She always stood up for those who could not do it for themselves. Although she went through darkness, she fought to reach the light. Even when she was in her last stages with vascular dementia, she did it her way and she fought to the end valiantly. I would not be the woman I am today without the love, sacrifices, struggles, and good times we went through together. Words cannot express my sadness at not hearing you laugh or say NO, or having to act silly to make your day, Mom. I will miss you terribly. I'm so happy I brung you home. You were so happy.
Love your firstborn,
Shaunte
Missing you terribly, your granddaughters Nyree, Jaida, Monet, and your great granddaughter Sonia.
