Cindy Jean Wilson, 59, of Oxford, NC, passed away Friday, October 7, 2016 at UNC Rex Hospital in Raleigh, NC from kidney failure. Cindy is survived by her children, Brian Wilson, of Durham, NC, Summer Wilson, of Bryan, TX, Carlton-James “CJ” Iminephro, of College Station, TX, Carlos Degraffenriedt, of Centreville, VA, and Christopher Iminephro of Fairfax, VA; mother, Nanci Cole, of Greensboro, NC; sister Donna Rogers, of El Paso, TX; brothers, Michael Wilson, Christian Wilson, Travis Cole, and Ryan Cole, all of Greensboro; eleven grandchildren; her special friend and caretaker Darnell Walker, her much loved Chihuahua Boogie, and numerous others for whom she acted as a “second” mom and grandmother too. She was preceded in death by her father, James L. Wilson, Jr. Cindy was born in Asheville, North Carolina on April 28, 1957. She worked many jobs over the years, including waitressing for much of her early life before going back to school at Durham Technical Community College where she completed studies to earn her GED and become a Certified Nursing Assistant. She enjoyed working with elderly and AIDS patients, giving her love and care to people often left alone by their own families, and planned to return to school to obtain her RNA credentials. A near-fatal car accident in the mid-1990s left her with back injuries that forced her to leave the nursing field. Determined to make the best of it, she turned her focus on studying gemology and jewelry, working in that field for a brief time before the life-long effects of the accident forced her to retire. However, the accident could never make her give up her love of cooking. She enjoyed spending time helping her closest friend Pam in her catering business. Until Pam’s passing in 2008, making special occasion meals for others, and cooking for family and friends. She made certain no one ever left her house hungry. Cindy moved to Bryan, Texas, with her children, after her daughter moved there in 2000, then returned to her home state in 2002. She settled in Butner, NC remaining there until her health continued to decline, due to COPD, colitis, and other conditions. She relocated to Oxford in 2016 where she lived out the rest of her days. Cindy will be remembered as a loving mother, daughter, and grandmother, cherished friend, cook, baker, and caretaker of all. She kept an open heart, a full plate, and home for anyone in need, and those who knew her came to feel like part of the family. A private memorial service will be held at Holloway Memorial Funeral Home on Friday, October 14th 2:00 pm
