Obituary For Tommy James “Boonie” Nelms

Graveside service for Tommy Nelms, 71, of Opelika, AL, will be at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, December 21, 2024, at Evergreen Cemetery, 1409 Monroe Avenue, Opelika, AL, 36801, Reverend Michael Strickland will officiate.

Mr. Nelms, who passed away Saturday, December 14, 2024 at the East Alabama Medical Center in Opelika, Alabama, was born June 24, 1953, in Lee County, Alabama.

Public viewing will be Friday, December 20, 2024 from 2:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.

He leaves to cherish his precious memory: special nephew and niece, Gregory and Stacee Nelms of Opelika, AL; daughter and son, Tiffany and Tommy Ambus; four grandchildren, Garrien, Verlearyia, Alillian "Lilly" and Cornell all of Opelika, AL; one brother-in-law, Gilbert Dooley of Opelika, AL; two special friends, Anthony "Gump" Johnson and Mike Heard; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Mr.Nelms I'm going to miss you dearly it never fails when I come visit you. The 1st thing you say is Dorian you done gain weight!! And I just shake my head not only were you one my favorite patient but you were my friend. Love Nurse Dorian until meet again rest easy .
