Funeral service for Terry Melton, 78, of Opelika, AL, will be at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, April 22, 2025, at Mt. Traveler Missionary Baptist Church, 1229 S. Dawson Avenue, Waverly, AL, 36879 with interment in the church cemetery, Reverend Benjamin Datiri will officiate.
Mr. Melton, who passed away Sunday, April 13, 2025 in Opelika, Alabama, was born November 10, 1946, in Muscogee County, Georgia.
Public viewing will be Monday, April 21, 2025 from 2:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.
Mr. Melton will lie in repose at the church one hour prior to the service.
He leaves to cherish his precious memory: wife of 45 years, Mae Doris Melton of Opelika, AL; two children, Terry (Catina) Melton of Salem, AL and Towana Melton of Loachapoka, AL; son, Larry Maddox of Auburn, AL; eleven grandchildren, Terrence (Natasha) Melton, Tameka Perry, Bryson Melton, Paris Beasley, Tamarcus Finley, Kwana Finley, Torretta Hughley, TyQuan Grady, Teanna Harris, Za’Kobe Collins and Za’kwan Collins; twelve great-grandchildren; five siblings, Gail (John) Patterson of Chicago, IL, Nutree Frazier of Duluth, GA, Houston (Donna) Melton of Opelika, AL, Elijah (Mary) Melton and Brigetha (Henry) Finley both of Auburn, AL; one aunt, Annie Katherine Hunter of Auburn, AL; four brothers-in-law, Clifford Maddox of Loachapoka, AL, Bobby Maddox of Houston, TX, Eddie B. (Sherry) Maddox of Opelika, AL and Nathaniel Maddox of Auburn, AL; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
