Obituary For Margaret “Maude” Forte Johnson

Funeral service for Margaret Johnson, 83, of Tuskegee, AL, will be at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, April 6, 2024, at Bethel #2 Missionary Baptist Church, 1785 Lee Road 29, Opelika, AL 36804 with interment in the church cemetery, Reverend Michael Heard will officiate.

Mrs. Johnson, who passed away Thursday, March 28, 2024 at the Bethany House in Auburn, AL, was born July 29, 1940 in Lee County, Alabama.

Public viewing will be Friday, April 5, 2024, from 2:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.

Mrs. Johnson will lie in repose at the church one hour prior to the service.

She leaves to cherish her memory: six children, Dorothy Johnson, Dennis Johnson both of Akron, OH, Deverett Johnson of Columbus, OH, Denise Johnson (Sentha) Fitzpatrick of Tuskegee, AL, Pamela (Gary) Hughley of Salem, AL and Brenda Johnson of Opelika, AL; twelve grandchildren, Darren Johnson, Kishina Johnson, La-Kenya Johnson, Kentavious Robinson all of Opelika, AL, Travell (Donna) Fitzpatrick of McDonough, GA, Candice Baker of Huntsville, AL, Corteze Macon, Curwin Macon, Marcus Fitzpatrick all of Akron, OH, Dennisha Banks of Stone Mountain, GA, Deverett Johnson, Jr. of Columbus, OH and Kii-Wanda Johnson of Reading, PA; one nephew, Reverend Andrew Peoples of Opelika, AL; three godchildren, Bishop Tony (Demetra) Peoples of Montgomery, AL, Tanulyn Peoples-McKinley of Auburn, AL and Angela Peoples (Rickey) James of Jacksonville, FL; three brothers-in-law, William (Mary) Johnson, Robert Johnson both of Columbus, GA and Larry (Theresa) Tolbert of Hephzibah, GA; one sister-in-law, Alice Tolbert of Columbus, GA; a special close friend and companion, Ezekiel Brown of Opelika, AL; a special relatives, Sylvester Dumas of Opelika, AL and Willie George Dumas, Jr. of Columbus, GA; special dear and close friends, Myrtis Morris of Tuskegee, AL, Johnnie Mae Cannon of Auburn, AL, Lillie B. Bailey and Vivian (Zach) Henderson both of Opelika, AL; a host of nieces, other relatives and friends.
