Obituary For Fred “Fred Baby” Heard

Funeral service for Fred Heard, 78, of Notasulga, AL, will be at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, June 25, 2022, at Harris Funeral Home Chapel with interment in Westview Cemetery, 700 Westview Drive, Auburn, AL 36830, Reverend Michael Heard will officiate. (Facial covering is required)

Mr. Heard, who passed away Wednesday, June 22, 2022 at the East Alabama Medical Center in Opelika, AL, was born December 23, 1943 in Chambers County, Alabama.

Public viewing will be Friday, June 24, 2022, from 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. (Facial covering is required).

He leaves to cherish his memory: a devoted companion, Ruth Dowdell Heard of Notasulga, AL; six children, Christopher (Cherry) Buckhannon, Tammy (David) Morgan both of Loachapoka, AL, Sharn Washington (Wilson Hill, Sr.) of Auburn, AL, Fredrick M. Heard (Jazamyne Short) of Tallassee, AL, Roderick (Trice) Dowdell of Tuskegee, AL and Jamerel Dowdell of New York, NY; twenty-four grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; one brother, JC (Louise) Heard of Tallassee, AL; special cousin, Rosie M. Wright of Montgomery, AL; special friends, Willie Bledsoe of Loachapoka, AL, Thomas Reese of Auburn, AL, Terry Wynn of Notasulga, AL and David Levett of Tuskegee, AL; goddaughter, Yvette (Eric) Moore of Tallassee, AL; extended family, Virginia (Calvin) Dowdell of Cleveland, OH, Mickey (Elovy) Cosby of Marietta, GA; Cynthia Dowdell of Huntsville, AL, Joe Nathan Dowdell of Auburn, AL, Jimmy Lewis (Gloria) Dowdell, Stoney Phillips both of Opelika, AL and Michael (Freda) Dowdell of Columbus, GA; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
