Obituary For Sophie Arnita Drewery

On Saturday, December 10, 2022, Sophie Arnita Drewery, 81, of Champion Dr., Whitsett, NC transitioned from this earthly life to eternal life at Twin Lakes Retirement Center. Born November 28, 1941, in Martinsville, VA, she was the daughter of Russell Drewery, and Rena Hairston Drewery who preceded her in death. In addition to her parents, Sophie was preceded in death by her sister, Rosalyn Williams.

Sophie retired from Thomas Jefferson Hospital as a payroll clerk after many years of service. She was a member of Loving Faith Christian Fellowship, Greensboro, NC. Sophie was a former member of the Red Hat Ladies.

Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Carol “Bernard” Holmes of Whitsitt, NC; four grandchildren, Latoya Brown of Fayetteville, NC, Justin Holmes of Raleigh, NC, Jamie Greene of Whitsitt, NC, and Carina Lewis of Charlotte, NC; four great grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 16, 2022, at 12 p.m. at the C.R.V. Memorial Chapel at Hairston Funeral Home, 301 Fayette St., Martinsville, VA with Reverend John Warfield, Eulogist. Burial will follow at Carver Memorial Gardens, 1310 Carver Rd., Martinsville, VA. A public viewing will be held on Thursday, December 15, 2022, at Hairston Funeral Home between the hours of 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. In accordance with the CDC, a face covering, and social distancing is required. Other times, the family will be receiving friends at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Bernard & Carol Holmes, 6835 Championship Dr., Whitsitt, NC.
