On Tuesday, March 28, 2023, Norma Jean Watkins Seay, 83 of Terry’s Mountain Rd., transitioned from this earthly life to eternal life. She was born January 8, 1940, in Virginia to the late John Kitt Watkins, and the late Hattie Martin Watkins.
In addition to her parents, Norma was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Seay, Sr.; one son, Harry Seay, Jr.; four sisters, Doris W. Gravely, Nannie Watkins, Marie Gravely, and Gladys Moore; and three brothers, Harold L. Watkins, Johnnie Watkins, and Raymond Watkins.
Norma was a member of Moral Hill Missionary Baptist Church where she served as a member of the Culinary Committee and was a member of the Choir. She was also a member of the Community Birthday Club. Norma retired from E.I. Dupont after many years of service, and she was a graduate of George Washington Carver High School.
Those left to cherish her memory include one daughter, Martee McCatty of Chesterfield, VA; daughter-in-law, Marcie Seay of Martinsville, VA; three grandsons, Gemal Seay of Martinsville, VA, Langston D. McCatty of Baltimore, MD, and Landon B. McCatty of Chesterfield, VA; two sisters, Lucille Roher, and Larneal Reynolds both of Martinsville, VA; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
A visitation service will be held on Monday, April 3, 2023, at 11:30 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 12 noon at Moral Hill Missionary Baptist Church, 50 Moral Hill Dr., Axton, VA, with Pastor Matthew Brown, Eulogist. Burial will follow at Carver Memorial Gardens, 1310 Carver Rd., Martinsville. A public viewing will be held on Sunday, April 2, 2023, at Hairston Funeral Home between the hours of 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. Other times, the family will be receiving friends at the home, 1925 Terry’s Mountain Rd., Martinsville.
