On Sunday, June 11, 2023, Fannie Mae Watkins 97, of Axton transitioned from this earthly life to eternal life at SOVAH Health-Martinsville. She was born in Franklin County, VA on October 15, 1925, the daughter of the late Prince Albert McEnhiemer, and the late Eliza Anna Lee Berger Watkins.
In addition to her parents, Fannie was preceded in death by her husband, Macy Conrad Watkins, and one son, Macy McKinley Watkins.
Fannie was a member of True Bread Worship Center where she was the church mother. She retired as a seamstress after 50 years of dedicated service.
Those left to cherish her memory include three daughters, Evelyn Watkins Burgess of Eden, NC, Doris Watkins of Axton, VA, and Barbara Watkins Thompson of Crawfordville, FL; ten grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives, and friends.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, June 21, 2023, 11 a.m. at the C.R.V. Memorial Chapel at Hairston Funeral Home and burial will follow at Watkins Family Cemetery, 2516 Old Liberty Drive, Axton, VA with Bishop John Campbell, Eulogist. A public viewing will be held on Tuesday, June 20, 2023, at Hairston Funeral Home, 301 Fayette St., Martinsville between the hours of 1 p.m. until 5 p.m.
