Obituary For Mattie B. Ziegler
Mattie Ziegler,96, of Ridgeway, VA, departed this life on Friday, October 27,2023, at her residence. She was born in Patrick County, VA on November 6, 1926, the daughter of the late John Ziegler and Mary M. Reid Ziegler Martin.
In addition to her parents, Mattie was preceded in death by three sons, Sidney Moore, Roy Moore, and Curtis Moore; one grandson, Gary Moore; one great-grandson, Jalen Millner; six brothers, Charlie Reid Zieglar, George W. Ziegler, John Frank Ziegler, Sammie Scales Ziegler, Robert Lee Ziegler, and Walter Perry Ziegler; and four sisters, Sallie Mae Price, Sarah B. Hairston, Hattie Z. Hairston, and Mary J. Holt.
Mattie was a faithful member of Red Hollow Primitive Baptist Church. She worked for American Furniture Company for several years, then she went to work for Pannill Knitting Company where she retired after several years of dedicated service.
Mattie leaves to cherish her memory five daughters, Theressa Gallant of Lakeland, FL, Brenda Moore, and Linda Giles both of Ridgeway, VA, Elder Mary Moore of Columbus, OH, and Lisa M. Davis of Pickerington, OH; three sons, Alfred Moore (Linda) of Martinsville, VA, James Moore (Mattie) of Columbus, OH, and George Moore of Ridgeway, VA; twenty grandchildren; one sister, James Hairston of Spencer, VA; one sister-in-law, Philisty Z. Price of Martinsville, VA; and a host of other relatives, and friends.
A visitation service will be held on Saturday, November 4, 2023, at 12 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 12:30 p.m. at the C.R.V. Memorial Chapel at Hairston Funeral Home, 301 Fayette St., Martinsville, VA. The burial will follow at Carver Memorial Gardens, 1310 Carver Rd., Martinsville, VA. A public viewing will be held on Friday, November 3, 2023, at Hairston Funeral Home between the hours of 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. Other times, the family will be receiving friends at the home of her daughter, Linda Giles, 180 Knob Rd., Ridgeway, VA.
