Obituary For Martha Laboy

On Saturday, April 1, 2023, Martha "Jerry" Henderson Laboy, 81, of Lynchburg, VA transitioned from this earthly life to eternal life. Born July 2, 1941, in Gretna, VA, she was the daughter of the late Josephine Dickerson, and the late Liskom Younger.

In addition to her parents, Martha was preceded in death by three brothers, Leroy Dickerson, Lawrence Dickerson, and Larry Wayne Dickerson; stepbrother, Michael Younger; and one sister, Judi Dickerson.

Martha attended Northside High School in Gretna, VA. Before retiring, Martha operated a Cleaning and Printing business in Riverhead, NY.

Those left to cherish her memory include five daughters, Shelia Stephens of Laurel, MD, Carlesse Stewart (Jeffrey) of Washington, DC, Paulette Henderson Hairston (John) of Lynchburg, VA, Brenda Henderson of Riverhead, NY, and Serena Henderson of Mastic Shirley, NY; twenty-one grandchildren; thirty-one great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; one stepsister, Medina Miller (Tyrone) of Gretna, VA; one brother, Thomas Berger (Martha) of Cresskill, NJ; her devoted companion of thirty years, Anthony "TJ" James; she raised three special grandchildren, Jevona Pita, Lizette Pita, and Anaya Pita; her favorite grandsons, Andre, and Dion Hairston, but she loved all her grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

A visitation service will be held on Saturday, April 15, 2023, at 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11 a.m. at Galilee Church of God in Christ, 87 Old Quogue Rd., Riverhead, Ny with Elder John Hairston, Eulogist. Burial will follow at Riverhead Cemetery, N. Griffing Ave., Riverhead, NY.
