Lynwood Turner, 79, of Crestmond Lane, Martinsville, VA, departed this life on Thursday, March 4,2021, at Novant Health Hospital in Winston Salem, N.C. He was born in Washington, DC, the son of the late Robert Lee Turner and the late Maggie Sue King Turner.
Lynwood was a member of Agape Bible Christian Fellowship, where he served as a Trustee. He was a member of the Martinsville-Henry County Zoning Board. Lynwood was a 1959 graduate of G.W. Carver High School and was a graduate of Montela University. He retired from E. I. Dupont after 32 years of service.
Lynwood leaves to cherish his memory, his wife Wendell Turner of the home; one son, Darrell E. Turner of Axton, VA; three daughters, Yecker T. Stephenson of Upper Marlboro, MD, M. Lynn Mathis of Jacksonville, FL, and Leslie G. Turner of Greensboro, NC; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, March 13, 2021 at 1 p.m. at Carver Memorial Gardens with Dr. C. Lee Hagwood, Eulogist. A public viewing will be held on Friday, March 12, 2021 at Hairston Funeral Home between the hours of 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. In accordance with the CDC, a face covering and social distancing is required.
