On Thursday, January 25, 2024, Lena Mae Hairston 94, of Pony PL., Martinsville, transitioned from this earthly life to eternal life at Franklin Health & Rehab Center, Rocky Mount, VA. She was born on March 14, 1929, in Henry County, VA to the late Eddie Bob Hairston, and Eliza Joyce Hairston.
In addition to her parents, Lena was preceded in death by one son, Mark Hairston, son-in-law, Donald Olson, and a host of brothers, sisters, and other relatives.
Lena retired as a Foster Care Provider for many years. She loved cooking for her family and friends. She was of the Baptist faith.
Lena leaves to cherish her memory one daughter, Teresa Olson of Richmond, VA; one son, Garland Hairston of Martinsville, VA; two grandsons, Jerrel Hairston, and Jerron Hairston both of Front Royal, VA; care giver, Eunice Trotter of Collinsville, VA; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
A visitation service will be held on Friday, February 2, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11 a.m. at the C.R.V. Memorial Chapel at Hairston Funeral Home, 301 Fayette St., Martinsville, VA with Pastor Matthew Brown, Eulogist. The burial will follow at Carver Memorial Gardens, 869 Parkway Dr., Martinsville. A public viewing will be held on Thursday, February 1, 2024, at Hairston Funeral Home between the hours of 1 p.m. until 5 p.m.

My Condolences to her family. Mrs. Hairston use to be my babysitter, my brother and several other children with us many years ago. She was a sweet lady and didn't take no mess. She will be missed.
