On Monday, February 17, 2025, Laverne Carter 70, of Martinsville transitioned peacefully at SOVAH Health-Martinsville. She was born in Martinsville, VA on October 8, 1954, to the late John W. Carter and Mary Katherine Morris Carter.
In addition to her parents, Laverne was preceded in death by two brothers, Melvin B. Carter and William Carter.
Laverne retired from Bassett Walker after many years of service. She was a graduate of Martinsville High School, class of 1973.
Those left to cherish her memory include one son, Kevin A. Carter of the home; two sisters, Linda Faulkner and Deborah Carter both of Martinsville, VA; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, February 23, 2025, from 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. at Hairston Funeral Home, 301 Fayette St., Martinsville. Other times, the family will receive friends at the residence, 1569 Stultz Rd., Martinsville. All other services will be private.
