Obituary For Joe Louis Hairston

Joe Louis Hairston, 79, died Monday, March 11, 2019 at SOVAH Health-Martinsville. He was born January 1, 1940 in Martinsville, Virginia, son of the late Joe Henry Hairston and the late Martha R. Hairston. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by four sisters, Katie H. Jones, Sophia I. Hairston, Dolly H. Holland, and Mary C. Hairston and two brothers, Charles H. Hairston and William "Billy" Hairston.

Joe Louis is survived by three sisters, Martha Juanita Hairston of Greensboro, NC; Agnes H. Phanelson and Linda H. Deering both of Martinsville, VA; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was member of Shiloh Way of The Cross Church where he drove the church van prior to the declining of his health. Joe Louis worked for J.C. Woodridge Trucking for many years.

The family will receive friends at the residence of his sister, Agnes Phanelson, 850 Laurel Park Ave, Martinsville, VA. Visitation will be held Friday, March 15,2019 at 12:30 p.m. at Shiloh Way of The Cross Church. The funeral will follow at 1 p.m. with Bishop Early Dillard, eulogist. Burial will be in Carver Memorial Gardens, Martinsville, VA.
