On Saturday, December 9, 2023, Jerry Seay 69, of Cherry St. Ext., Martinsville transitioned from this earthly life to eternal life at Blue Ridge Therapy Connection, Stuart, VA. He was born in Martinsville, VA on November 29, 1954, to the late Theresa Seay Carter.
In addition to his mother, Jerry was preceded in death by his father Elder Bernard Carter, Sr, his maternal grandparents, Colvet and Lucy Wade Seay; one sister, Shelia Martin, and one sister-in-law, Debbie W. Seay.
Jerry was a member of Refuge Temple Ministries, where he served on the Van Ministry and Singles Ministry. He was a United States Air Force Veteran. Jerry was a 1973 Martinsville High School graduate.
Those left to cherish his memory include: one daughter, Elisa D. Seay of Portsmouth, VA; one son, Michael Seay of Martinsville, VA; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two sisters, Shelby Finch (Ike) of Reidsville, NC, and Carolyn Proctor of Newark, DE; five brothers, Larry Seay of Bassett, VA, Al C. Seay of Bowie, MD, James A. Seay (Della) of Salisbury, NC, Kerry G. Smith, and Todd J. Carter (Kim) both of Martinsville, VA; sister-in-law Jean Smith of Martinsville, VA; brother-in-law, Gary Wayne Martin of Axton, VA; four aunts, Mary Seay of Portsmouth, VA, Lillie Seay Hughes of Spencer, VA, Lydia Seay of MD, and Ann Wimbush of Bassett, VA; Godmother, Pastor Drucilla Hairston of Martinsville, VA; special cousin/best friend, Percy Hairston of Harrisonburg, PA; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
A visitation service will be held on Saturday, December 16, 2023, at 11:30 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 12 noon at Refuge Temple Ministries, 205 Clearview Dr., Martinsville with Elder Alan Preston, Eulogist. The burial will follow at the Seay Family Cemetery, 930 Cherry St., Martinsville. A public viewing will be held on Friday, December 15, 2023, at Hairston Funeral Home, 301 Fayette St., Martinsville between the hours of 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. Other times, the family will be receiving friends each evening from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the home, 930 Cherry St., Martinsville
