On Wednesday, September 14, 2022, James C. Williams, 82, of Bethel Ln., Martinsville, VA transitioned from this earthly life to eternal life at his residence. Born June 9, 1940, in Virginia, he was the son of the late James David Williams, and the late Matilda Swanson Williams.
In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by two sisters, Emma V. Williams, and Marion A. Whitaker, and five brothers, David E. Williams, Frederick D. Williams, Thomas N. “Nay” Williams, Samuel A. Williams, and Curtis E. Williams.
James retired from Memorial Hospital of Martinsville & Henry Co. after 57 years of service. He also was employed by Mr. & Mrs. Dudley Walker for many years. He was a graduate of Albert Harris High School.
Those left to cherish his memory include: one sister, Frances Marie Hailey of Atlanta, GA; one brother, Robert A. Williams of Martinsville, VA; fiance’, Pauline Wilson of Martinsville, VA; three sons, Juanell Hairston, and Antonio Hairston both of Martinsville, VA, and Isaiah Hairston of Ridgeway, VA; six grandchildren, Lexi Bowen, Noah Hairston, Emma Hairston, Layla Reynolds, Oniyon Reynolds, and Nevaeh Hairston; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
A visitation service will be held on Sunday, September 18, 2022, at 1:30 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 2 p.m. at the C.R.V. Memorial Chapel at Hairston Funeral Home with Elder Alan Preston, Eulogist. Burial will follow at Carver Memorial Gardens, 1310 Carver Rd., Martinsville, VA. Viewing will be held on Saturday, September 17, 2022, at Hairston Funeral Home between the hours of 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. In accordance with the CDC, a face covering, and social distancing is required. Other times, the family will be receiving friends at the residence, 1000 Bethel Ln., Martinsville, VA. The family ask that when visiting the home, that you would please observe all COVID 19 guidelines.
