Obituary For Gladys Eggleston Clark

On Thursday, July 25, 2024, Gladys Eggleston Clark, 95, of Roundabout Road, Martinsville transitioned from this earthly life to eternal life at SOVAH Health-Martinsville. She was born May 21, 1929, in Henry County, VA to the late Will Eggleston and Cora Lou Eggleston.

In addition to her parents, Gladys was preceded in death by her husband, James E. Clark; two daughters, Martha Clark and Delois Agnew; five sons, James “Spooky” Clark, Ronnie Clark, George Clark, Ben Styles Clark and Tony Clark; five sisters, Fannie Flakes, Julie Smith, Hattie Bell Clark, Cora M. Brown and Thelma Hairston; and five brothers, John Lewis Eggleston, Edward Eggleston, George Willie Eggleston, Tas Eggleston and Bruce Eggleston.

At an early age, Gladys became a member of Shiloh Way of the Cross Church under the leadership of the late Bishop Harry Eggleston. She retired from Pulaski furniture Company after many years of dedicated service.

Those left to cherish her memory include: three daughters, Dianne Lee (Ralph) of Washington, D.C., Evangelee Martin and Vickie Draper (Tony)both of Martinsville, VA; twenty-two grandchildren, forty-five great-grandchildren, eight great great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

A visitation service will be held on Saturday, August 3, 2024, at 2 p.m. with the funeral service at 2:30 p.m. at Refuge Temple Ministries, 205 Clearview Dr., Martinsville, VA with Bishop J.C. Richardson, Jr., Eulogist. Interment will follow at Carver Memorial Gardens, 869 Parkway Dr., Martinsville, VA.

A public viewing will be held on Friday, August 2, 2024, at Hairston Funeral Home, 301 Fayette St., Martinsville between the hours of 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. Other times, the family will be receiving friends at the home, 1103 Roundabout Road, Martinsville.
