Obituary For Ernestine Gravely
On Sunday, November 26, 2023, Ernestine Gravely 78, of Elijah Circle, Martinsville transitioned from this earthly life to eternal life at her residence. She was born in Virginia July 22, 1945, the daughter of the late Dane Gravely, and Ruth Douglas Gravely.
In addition to her parents, Ernestine was preceded in death by her siblings, Doris Hodge, Lucy Barksdale, John Gravely, Roy Gravely, and Dana Gravely, and two grandchildren, Tamara Gravely, and Dorian Gravely.
Ernestine was a faithful member of the Galilean House of Worship where she served as the head of the Culinary Committee and was a Prayer Warrior. She retired from the Tultex Corporation after many years of service.
Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Darnell Gravely of the home; one daughter, Lucretia โCherieโ Foster (Randy) of Sinking Springs, PA; one son, Ravi Gravely (Tamika) of Greensboro, NC; two grandchildren, Amber Foster, and Jalen Foster both of Sinking Springs, PA; three brothers, James Gravely, Gene A. Gravely, and Carl Gravely (Merlene) all of Martinsville, VA; two sisters, Annie Shelton of Martinsville, VA, and Silver Keen (Vernon) of Richmond, VA; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
A visitation service will be held on Saturday, December 2, 2023, at 11:30 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 12 noon at the C.R.V. Memorial Chapel at Hairston Funeral Home, 301 Fayette St., Martinsville, VA with Bishop Michael Penn, Eulogist. The burial will follow at Carver Memorial Gardens, 1310 Carver Rd., Martinsville, VA. A public viewing will be held on Friday, December 1, 2023, at Hairston Funeral Home between the hours of 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. Other times, the family will be receiving friends at the home, 1245 Elijah Circle, Martinsville, VA.
