Chefo Payne Draper, 87, of 300 Blue Ridge St., Martinsville, VA departed this life on Monday, December 2, 2019. He was born in Virginia on December 10, 1931, the son of the late Roscoe Draper and the late Catherine Peters Draper Brown. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Vesteen Watkins Draper and one daughter, Denise Harris.
Chefo was a member of New Sharon Grove Missionary Baptist Church and a U.S. Army Veteran. He retired from Pulaski Furniture Company. In addition, he was a Fire Fighter for the company.
Chefo leaves to cherish his memory, four daughters, Evelyn Hairston of Westerville, OH, Yvonne Foddrell of Stuart, VA, and Selma (Maurice) Millner and Connie (Douglas) Clark both of Martinsville, VA; three sons, Leon (Katrina) Draper, Don Draper and Dennis Draper all of Martinsville, VA; one brother, Herman Draper of Martinsville, VA; 12 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 7, 2019 at 11 a.m. at New Sharon Grove Missionary Baptist Church, 2593 Wyatt Farm Rd, Axton, VA with Reverend Larry Penn, Eulogist. The visitation will be held Saturday, December 7, 2019 at the church from 10:30 a.m. until 11 a.m. All other times, the family will receive friends at the home of his daughter; Selma and Maurice Millner, 149 Robin Rd., Martinsville, VA. Burial will follow in the New Sharon Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.
