Obituary For Annie B. Hairston

On Saturday, November 4, 2023, Annie Bernice Hairston 96, of Stoney Mountain Rd., Martinsville, transitioned from this earthly life to eternal life at the home of her daughter. She was born in Virginia on January 2, 1927, the daughter of Elias Hodge and Lucy J. Gravely Hodge. In addition to her parents, Annie was preceded in death by her husband, Henry H. Hairston, one son, Kenneth Hairston, one daughter, Virginia Hairston, three sisters, Gloria Maureen Turner, Nancy Mays, and Frankie Moore, and four brothers, James Stafford Hodge, Reverend Ulysses Grant Hodge, John Edward Hodge, and David Hodge.

Annie was an avid supporter of Morning Star Holy Church, and she retired from American Furniture Company after many years of service.

Those left to cherish her memory include two daughters, Sharon H. Toney (Ronnie), and Carol J. Perkins both of Martinsville, VA; four sons, Timothy D. Hairston (Anna Doris) of Oxon Hills, MD, David E. Hairston of Richmond, VA, Douglas M. Hairston (Lorraine) of Martinsville, VA, and Leslie N. Hairston of Axton, VA; ten grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; one sister, Rita J. Hairston of Martinsville, VA;one dauhter-in law, Lucy Hairston; two sister-in-laws, Margaret Eggleston and Shirley J. Hairston and a host of other relatives, and friends.

A visitation service will be held on Thursday, November 9, 2023, at 11:30 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 12 noon at Morning Star Holy Church, 2839 Stoney Mountain Rd., Martinsville, VA with Reverend Tyler C. Millner, Eulogist. The burial will follow at Carver Memorial Gardens, 1310 Carver Rd., Martinsville, VA. A public viewing will be held on Wednesday, November 8, 2023, at Hairston Funeral Home, 301 Fayette St., Martinsville, VA between the hours of 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. Other times, the family will be receiving friends at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Ronnie Toney, 516 Stoney Mountain Rd., Martinsville, VA.
