Mrs. Bertha Mae Clark was born on June 7th, 1945, in Lake City, SC. She was the second oldest of four children. Born to Ms. Gladys Pressley. Bertha was educated in the Lake City School system and accepted Christ at an early age. After moving to Houston Tx to pursue her career, she met Mr. Joe Douglas Clark Sr. in 1969. After a brief courtship Bertha was united in holy matrimony with Mr. Joe Douglas Clark Sr. She mothered three children. Her oldest son Vincent James Jones and two in this union with Joe; Joe Douglas. Clark Jr. and Gladys Clark. Looking for a better life for their children they moved to Detroit, MI. After moving to Detroit Bertha resumed her career with Comerica Bank. Bertha moved up in the company and retired in 2006 after thirty plus years of employment. After retirement she moved to Newport News, VA. Later settling in Atlanta, GA., where she spent the rest of their life. Bertha loved to watch her daytime drama, ID T.V while indulging in her all-time favorite beverage Pepsi. Bertha was overjoyed when she had her grandchildren. Bertha’s grandbabies were the love of her life Tiara and Jacquise. She was joined in Atlanta, GA by her grandchildren and her incredibly special great grandson Ny’ir whom she loved dearly. Ny’ir was her heart. Bertha passed away suddenly on July 7, 2021. Preceding her in death was her parents, husband Joe D. Clark Sr. and her son Vincent (Jamie) Jones and brother James Jones. Bertha leaves to cherish her memory her daughter, Gladys Clark; son, Joe D. Clark Jr.; grandchildren, Tiaera Clark and Jacquise Cole; a special great grandchild, Ny’ir Jones; two sisters, Frenchie York (Lee Sr.) and Gloria; one brother, Jerome; her absolute best friend for more than twenty years, Miss Sandra Flowers and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
