Carl Aubrey Jones was born on June 26, 1937, in Brooklyn, NY, to his parents, Lily Taylor and Wilbert M. Jones.
Carl was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and lifelong servant of Christ. He will be remembered for his unwavering faith and lifelong service in the ministry. In addition to being a minister, he worked as a registered NYC yellow taxicab driver for over fifteen years.
As an accomplished songwriter, pianist, and vocalist, Carl used his talents to minister to people all around the world. In the 1970s, he was a member of The Prayer Wheels, an evangelist group that shared the gospel through music in the United States, Canada, and Jamaica. He wrote the title track for their album entitled We're in Heaven at Last.
In 1974, Carl and his wife, June Jones, founded the evangelist group United for Christ. Their mission was to spread the gospel of Christ to people in their communities, churches, local prisons, and hospitals. As a result, many souls were won to Christ through their ministry of over twenty years.
In 1989, Carl received his Doctor of Theology, a testament to his dedication and passion for serving the Lord. He continued to minister to people throughout his life, including in the late 1990s when he moved from New York to Atlanta to be with his daughter, June Richardson, and her family. He became a dedicated Calvary Missionary Bible Church member, where he served as a worship leader, pianist, and elder.
Carl will be remembered for his generosity of spirit, love of Christ and the gospel, and dedication to his wife and family. He mentored countless men and women, leading them to Christ and encouraging their faith. In addition, he was a fearless prayer warrior, constantly praying for friends and family.
His beloved wife of over 45 years preceded him in death. He is survived by his daughter, June Richardson, son-in-law, Charles Wesley Richardson, Jr., grandsons Charles Wesley Richardson, IV, Jayden Alexander Richardson, and countless other spiritual sons and daughters in the faith.
Service will be livestreamed at www.grissom-clarkfh.com
Dr. Jones was our mentor and the leader of the United for Christ's ministry. He presented Jesus Christ to my husband and I. After we rejected the Lord Jesus Christ, a few months later my husband and I invited the Lord into our hearts. Oh what a day of rejoicing that was and still is.
Carl and June were such beautiful examples of the Love of Jesus. They extended themselves to all. They both were gifted in the ministry and had a great sense of humor along with showing respect. What great friends and servants of the Lord Jesus Christ. We miss Carl and June so much. Our prayers go out to Lil June and her family. Bro you have really been missed since you had your graduation to heaven. Love Ralph and Odessa
We offer comfort at this time of loss to his family for God's humble servant "Uncle Carl" is what we affectionately new him has. He was a great soul winner for the Lord. His wonderful sense of humor, profound storytelling, and generosity has always and will remain with me whenever I think of Uncle Carl. I had the privilege of having Uncle Carl give a few remarks at my wedding in 2007. What a moment that was! I know he was a faithful servant for the kingdom of God. You are where you wrote about in your song over 40 years ago: "Heaven At Last". We love you Uncle Carl!! -Pastor Andrew Brown & Jemmie Brown and kids- Sofia, Judah, Vera, Abigail and Tiffany
Mr. Jones was an outstanding individual. I had the pleasure of being in his prayer group when he lived in New York. He was a sincere man of God. My prayers go out to June and her family. With Love, Audi Mincey
All the interactions I've ever had with Carl have always been consistent and positive . Carl was a light hearted spirit who knew how to find laughter and real joy in life. He had an infectious laugh, most times chuckling along, as he told you some funny story during his travels. Carl was a Husband, a father, a friend and an elder within our extended family. He will truly be missed and he will always live within my memories through all my days. I just want to pass on my condolences and love to June and her family in this difficult time.
Sincerely, Bashari white
