Miriam Crawford Cook was born August 10th, 1946, in Gastonia, NC and entered her eternal resting place on Friday, January 28th, . 2022, at the age of 75. Miriam was the 10th child of 10 born to the late Rev. Dovie Kendrick Crawford and Rev. John Charles Crawford.
She was educated in the Gaston County School system and graduated from Highland High School, Class of 1964.
Miriam accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior in her adult years and she did not mind telling you that, βGod saved her from a miserable lifeβ. Miriam was a true Prayer Warrior in the Ministry and stood very bold for Christ. She was a member of the Greater New Mills Chapel Church Inc., where she served faithfully on the Mother Board and Shepherds Care Ministry under the leadership of Apostle Dr. Greta Moses. Miriam was originally a member of New Mills Chapel FBH Church of God, under the leadership of Elder A.J Lindsay. There she served as a Sunday School Secretary and was also on the Usher Board for many years.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William (Harvey) Ratchford; three brothers, James Crawford, John Henry Crawford and Tommy Lee Crawford; three sisters, Margaret Crawford Gingles, Josephine Crawford Wilson and Sallie Crawford Brown.
She leaves to cherish her legacy and memories, her two brothers William Alexander Crawford (Betty) and Samuel Watson Crawford; one sister, Martha Crawford Smith, four daughters, Kathy Crawford Brice, Ronda Renae Crawford, Angela Yvette Cook and Stephanie Cook Gunnings (Alfred); eight grandchildren, Shawnte, Kevin, Brian, Ashley, Casey, Cenedra, Montavius and Robricus; twenty-six great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren, a special nephew Ronald Crawford and a host of nieces, nephews, other relative and friends; Who all love and will miss her dearly.
Viewing at the funeral home on Friday from 11-7
Funeral will be Saturday at Greater New Mills Chapel at 1:00 p.m with one hour visitation before the service
Interment: Armstrong Cemetery, Gastonia
Masks are required at all services and funeral service will be live on funeral home facebook page.
