Marion Smarr, Jr. was born on January 9, 1970, in Gastonia, North Carolina and departed this life on May 11, 2023 in Asheville, North Carolina. He was the son of Patricia Smarr and the late Marion Smarr, Sr.
He was a 1988 graduate of Hunter Huss High School and attended North Carolina A & T State University where he was enrolled as an Engineering student. He worked at Klear Knit and Performance Friction in Clover, South Carolina as well as ABC Rebar in
Gastonia as a Supervisor until his health began to decline.
Marion was a loving and kind person and had a smile for everyone he came in contact with. He loved the Lord and was baptized at Mt. Calvary Baptist
Church, Gastonia in 1995. He loved to eat and never turned down a good meal. He would open his doors to any and every one in an attempt to give them a hand up.
Marion had three children; one of which preceded him in death: Brooklyn.
He leaves to cherish fond memories to one daughter: Kristen Robinson (Brandon) of Berlin, NJ; and one son: Jarion of Asheville, North Carolina. He also had a one-year-old grandson, Micah; one sister, Frankie Collins Singleton of Charlotte, NC; one brother,
Jamie Smarr of New York, NY; his grandmother, Bertha Dye; nieces and nephews, Aaron, Toya, Patrick, and Sierra; a host of aunts, uncles, cousins
as well as other relatives and friends.
Viewing at the funeral home on Saturday; May 20, 2023 from 4 until 7.
Graveside service at Gaston Memorial Park on Sunday; May 21, 2023 at 2:00 p.m.
