Hubbard Family you have my deepest condolences and I am praying God's peace and comfort to you.
I have so many fond memories of your father, this great friend, mentor, and leader I don't know where to begin. However, my first memory of meeting COL Hubbard in person was the night his eldest son Jerry Jr., crossed the burning sands into the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. And I said to myself Oh Lord, COL Hubbard is here, does he know? Being a fresh Neophyte I felt like I was immediately back in the Lampados Club in his presence. But the Lord has blessed me to know him almost 40 years. He's been with me during some of my most difficult moments like when he spoke words of encouragement so eloquently at mother's homegoing. He said "Reggie you too now belong to the fraternity of brothers without mother's and we are here for you". Another memory is that COL Hubbard was so cool. He and Bill Withers and my Mom were all born in 1938. But my greatest lesson from COL Hubbard was when I was the roommate of Jerry Jr., at South Campus. I would watch letters coming to young Hub like clockwork every month and in the left hand corner of those letters was his name COL Jerry A. Hubbard, Sr. I said to myself then that one day I hope to send the same to my son or daughter. I didn't reach COL but I was so proud to put LTC Reginald Thomas on my letters to my daughter Danielle when she was in college. Thank you COL Hubbard for that lesson and so many other great Omega, Alumni, and Bulldog memories. May God rest your soul for you are now resting in the bosom of Jesus.
