Mrs. Mary L. Gooden of Munford, AL passed away on April 18, 2023. Graveside services will be held: Thursday, April 27, 2023, 2:00 PM at Hall Grove Baptist Church Cemetery of 488 Hall Grove Road, Munford, AL, with Reverend Rickey McKinney, Eulogist.
Mrs. Mary Gooden began her earthly life journey on March 9, 1940 to the parentage of the late Mr. Hance and Mrs. Ollie Madden in Talladega, AL. At an early age she confessed to Christ and joined Hall Grove Baptist Church and later moved to First Missionary Baptist Church. In the later years, she moved back to her home church and remained a faithful member throughout those final years. Mrs. Gooden was united in holy matrimony to the late Huelon Gooden on May 13, 1955 in Munford, AL and to this union they reared seven children. Mary was a wonderful loving, wife, mother, friend, and neighbor who loved to travel, spend time with her family, and going to church.
On Tuesday, April 18, 2023 at her home surrounded by her loving children, her weeping ended that day and was replaced with joy; now she is resting in the bosom of our Heavenly Father.
She was preceded in death by her husband Huelon Gooden; parents, Hance and Ollie Madden; one son, Rodriquez Gooden; two grand-daughters, Kinya Smith and Courtney Gooden; one grandson, Rodriquez Gooden; one great-grandson; two sisters and four brothers. Loving memories will forever be cherished in the hearts of her loving and faithful children; one son, Douglas (Carolyn) Gooden of Anniston, AL; five daughters, Gerelene Gooden of Hiram, GA; Doris (Daniel) Johnson of Duvall. WA; Darlene (Darrell) Smith of Anniston, AL; Dena (Tyrone) Bell of Oxford, AL, and Cynthia (Robert) Lynch of Weaver, AL; one brother Robert (Jeanette) Madden of North Chicago, IL; three sisters, Catherine Garrett of North Chicago, IL, Elizabeth Gooden and Dorothy Chapman of Talladega, AL; a very special niece and neighbor. Tammy Gooden and Forest Gooden; thirteen grandchildren, Sonya Gooden, Marcus Gooden, Cassidee (Preston) Gooden, Darell (Alonzo) Lloyd, Erica (Raphel) Aguilar, Charlene (DeAngelo) Turner, Gregory (LaShonda) Smith, Tatyana (Robert) Hatten, Tynisha Bell, Shakeia Gooden, Cameron (Taylor) Lynch, Carlos (Cheyenne) Menefee and Josiah Sanders; seventeen great-grandchildren and many other nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and lifelong friends.
