Mr. Larry Jackson was born January 14, 1957 and received his heavenly wings on Tuesday, May 16, 2023, at St. Vincent Hospital in Birmingham, AL. He was the son of the late Rosa Lee Jackson and Mr. Thornton. Along with his mother and father, several uncles and aunts preceded him in death: L.M. Jackson, Chester Jackson, Leslie Jackson, Erie Mae Jordon, and Flora Mae Calloway. Larry was brought up in a Christian home where his mother made sure he and his sister, Teresa attended church service every Sunday. Larry attended Cobb Avenue High School. Larry had the most beautiful smile and loved to engage in conversation with all whom he met. He was a wonderful and unforgettable person who always saw the good in others and tried to do good for others. In his leisure time, he loved to dance and would often compete in and win dance contests. He also loved to cook, especially fried fish.
Larry was an entrepreneur, owing a furniture store, antique shop, car wash named "Larry's Car Care" and an automobile repair shop during his lifetime; however, his main career was as a carpenter like our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Also, an experienced electrician and plumber. Larry was a jack-of-all trades and could fix anything. Larry was formerly married to Denise Phillips Christian for twelve years. To this union was born a daughter, Torrey Shanae, and Larry gained a stepdaughter, LaDreaka, whom he loved very much. Larry's daughter Torrey was the joy of his life along with his two grandchildren Trinitee and Tristun and his bonus grandchild, JaDyn Smith.
Larry loved his extended in-laws as well and was always there for his former, mother and father-in-law, Granny Evelyn, and Grandpa Gus. Larry leaves to mourn and rejoice in his forthcoming heavenly wings, his daughter, Torrey Jackson Frazier and son-in-law Lamar Frazier, grandchildren Trinitee Anderson, and Tristun Anderson, and bonus grandchild JaDyn Smith, his sister, Teresa Jackson, nephew, Terrance Ammons, uncle, Milton Jackson, mother of his daughter, Denise Phillips Christian, stepdaughter, LaDreaka Phillips Moore, special cousins, Dennis Jackson & Sharon Calloway, other cousins, former in-laws, nieces, nephews, friends, and neighbors. Larry will be truly missed by all.
