Obituary For Sidney Thomas

OPELOUSAS – Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 16, 2024 at Community Chapel Church of God In Christ, 1606 College Ave., Opelousas, LA for Mr. Sidney Thomas, 70, who entered eternal rest on Sunday, March 10, 2024 at his residence in Opelousas, LA. Interment will be in Garden of Memory Cemetery in Opelousas, LA.

Rev. Frank L. Ford, Pastor of Community Chapel Church of God In Christ, will be officiating the funeral service.

Mr. Thomas’ memories are being cherished by: his significant other of 33 years, Ms. Doris Augustine of Opelousas, LA; three sons, Joseph (Lillie) Richard of Opelousas, LA, Randy Richard of Sunset, LA and Irvin Richard of Lafayette, LA; three daughters, Amina Dural (Ronald) and Kathy Jones, both of Opelousas, LA and Theresa Richard of Beaumont, TX; two brothers, Leonard (Anna) Thomas of Leonville, LA and George Thomas of Opelousas, LA; two sisters, Mary Burleigh and Pearl Johnson, both of Opelousas, LA; one God daughter, Annette Sonnier (Eddie) of Opelousas, LA; two brothers-in-law, Joseph Elton (Hilda) Richard and Gilbert (Cindy) Richard, Jr., both of Lafayette, LA; sixteen grandchildren; and a host of great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Vincent and Lucille Robertson Thomas, Sr.; five brothers, Clarence Thomas, Sr., Marshall Thomas, Earl Thomas, Howard Thomas and Lawrence Thomas; four sisters, Lucy Malveaux, Mable Stansbury, Josephine Thomas and Cora Labbe; and two sisters-in-law, Mary Broussard and Elizabeth Reed.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 16, 2024 from 8:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. at Community Chapel Church of God In Christ.
