OPELOUSAS – Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 3, 2024 at Community Chapel Church of God In Christ, 1606 W. College Ave., Opelousas, LA for Pastor Madelyn McCord, 85, who entered eternal rest on Friday, January 26, 2024 at Opelousas General Health System. Interment will be in Mohorn Baptist Church in Plaisance, LA.
Rev. Frank L. Ford, Pastor of Community Chapel C.O.G.I.C., will be officiating the funeral service.
Pastor McCord’s memories are being cherished by: her two sons, Gregory McCord of Opelousas, LA and Kerry (Savannah) McCord of El Paso, TX; one daughter, Somonia McCord Lopez of Hoonah, AK; three brothers, John R. Bolt of Beaumont, TX, Jeremiah Bolt and Michael J. Bolt, both of Opelousas, LA; eight sisters, Naomi Bolt, Rachel Bolt and Ju’ly Bolt-Mitchell, all of Opelousas, LA, Barbara Lewis of Carencro, LA, Ruth Bolt of Dallas, TX, Mary Rice, Martha Stewart and Gloria Carter, all of Houston, TX; six grandchildren; one great grandchild; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
She is preceded in death by: her husband, Alvie Lee McCord; her parents, Rev. John B. Bolt and Colestine Jackson-Bolt; and two brothers, Billie Roy Bolt and Daniel Bolt.
The family wishes to express their sincere thanks to Rachael Bolt, Naomi Bolt, Ju’ly Bolt-Mitchell and Gregory McCord for their assistance during her illness.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 3, 2024 from 8:00 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. at Community Chapel Church of God In Christ.
