OPELOUSAS – Octavia Turner Bob entered into eternal rest on Monday, January 30, 2023, at age 98. She is the daughter of the late Ed Turner and the late Isabella Smith Turner and was raised by her aunt and uncle the late Stella Turner Ross and the late Rev. Joseph S. Ross, along with their children.
Mrs. Bob was preceded in death by husband Reed Bob, son Henry Williams Jr., daughter Juquita Williams Bob, as well as cousins Edward Ross and Olivia Ross. Cherishing her memory are daughter Juanita Williams and sons Jesse Williams, Rodgers Williams Sr. (Gilda), Lester Williams (Georgia), Wilfred Times (Chris), Minister Burnell Times (Merline), Kerry Williams (Dena), Donald Bob (Karen); goddaughter Patricia Cain Amos; seventeen grandchildren; twenty-four great-grandchildren; and many relatives and friends.
A life-long Christian, Mrs. Bob was the mother of Straight Light Baptist Church of Opelousas and the oldest member of the congregation. Known for her sweet spirit and warm smile, she loved to sing hymns and to listen to the word of God. One of the last things she wrote before her eyesight failed was, “I want to be more like Jesus.”
Funeral services will be held at the Community Chapel Church of God in Christ, 1606 West College Avenue, Opelousas, LA, 70570, Saturday, February 11, 2023, at 11 a.m. Reverend Brett A. L. Simien, Straight Light Baptist Church, Opelousas, LA, will officiate the service. Visitation is from 9:00-10:45 a.m.

Interment will take place at Saint Mary Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery, 103 Saquette Road, Port Barre, LA, 70577.
