Mr. Gilbert Richard, Jr., AKA: Uncle June, June or Big June, was the youngest of 5 children born to the union of Joseph Gilbert, Sr. and Elizebeth Wheeler Richard. He departed this life on Friday, October 23, 2020, at the age of 72.
Gilbert loved to play bingo, lottery and pick 3. He also enjoyed watching old movies and singing. He will be missed by his nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by: his parents, Gilbert Richard, Sr. and Elizebeth Wheeler Richard; two sisters, Pearl LeBlanc and Mary Ann Goodwin; and two brothers, Joseph Rapheal Richard and Joseph Clayton Richard, Sr.
He leaves to cherish his memories, his nieces and nephews: Linda Marie Richard, Judy (Murphy) Auzenne, Roselyn (Tony) Atkins, Chester LeBlanc, Roland (Carolyn) Goodwin and Joseph Clayton (Rose) Richard, Jr.; sister-in-law, Mary Carmeline B. Richard; and many great nephews and nieces and first cousins.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 31, 2020 from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. at Ford and Joseph Funeral Home in Opelousas, LA.
Graveside service will be held on Saturday, October 31, 2020 at 9:30 a.m. in Holy Family Catholic Cemetery in Lawtell, LA.
The family of Gilbert is truly grateful to everyone who has been there for him throughout his life journey. It is their prayer that God will continue to bless you all in your life’s journey.
