Obituary For Joseph Floyd Carrier, Sr.

CHURCH POINT - Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 22, 2021 at Our Mother of Mercy Catholic Church in Church Point, LA for Mr. Joseph Floyd Carrier, Sr. A/K/A “Deuce”, 70, who entered eternal rest on Wednesday, January 13, 2020 at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center in Lafayette, LA. Interment will be in Our Mother of Mercy Cemetery #2.

Father Emmanuel Awe will be officiating the funeral mass.

Our dear brother Joseph Floyd Carrier, Sr. was born on September 25, 1950 to the late Evangeline Marie Boudreaux Carrier and Warren Carrier. On July 1, 1972, Joseph Floyd Carrier, Sr. united in Holy Matrimony to the love of his life, Elvina Citizen Carrier. Floyd loved to dress up and sit outside spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He retired from being a truck driver after 42 years. He also loved his tv soap and his cowboy shows Gunsmoke, Bonanza, Riflemen, the Andy Griffith Show and Family Feud.

Mr. Carrier leaves to cherish his memories: his wife, Elvina Citizen Carrier of Church Point, LA; two sons, Joseph Floyd Carrier, Jr. (Michelle Washington) of Houston, TX and Dwight McKeeven Carrier (Tamara Small) of Sausalito, CA; two daughters, Dealina Denise Carrier (Joseph Citizen) and Darlene Marie Carrier (Gilbert Perrodin), both of Church Point, LA; one niece he raised, Dayna Sherayn Chavis (Abraham) of Church Point, LA; three grandsons he raised, Joseph Floyd (Mabel) Carrier, III and Joseph JaQuinton “Bubble Gum” Carrier, both of Eunice, LA and Brandon Khan Henry of Lafayette, LA; three sisters, Laura Marie Doolittle of Church Point, LA, Rose Linda Carrier and Brenda Gail Carrier-Childe (Victor), both of Houston, TX; eighteen grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Rose Carrier; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

He is preceded in death by: his parents, Warren and Evangeline Carrier; maternal grandparents, Joseph and Mollie Riggs Boudreaux; paternal grandparents, Benjamin and Alice Broussard Carrier; four brothers, Thomas Murphy Carrier, Sr., Joseph Roy Carrier, Sr., James Edward Carrier and Clinton Charles Carrier; and two sisters, Mary Joelene Williams and Irene Lou Beckwith.

Visitation will be held on Friday, January 22, 2021 from 8:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. at Our Mother of Mercy Catholic Church.
