OPELOUSAS – Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 15, 2023 at Community Chapel Church of God In Christ in Opelousas, LA for Mr. Joseph E. Broussard, 83, who entered eternal rest on Saturday, July 8, 2023 at his residence in Sunset, LA. Interment will be in Garden of Memory Cemetery in Opelousas, LA.
Rev. Kenneth Celestine will be officiating the funeral service.
Mr. Broussard’s memories are being cherished by: his wife of 51 years, Patricia Barnaba of Sunset, LA; three sons, Joseph Patrick (Rhonda) Barnaba of Phoenix, AZ, Erick Barnaba of Opelousas, LA and Jimmy Alfred Broussard of Arnaudville, LA; seven daughters, Angela Barnaba (Mederick) and Chelsey Barnaba, both of Sunset, LA, Mary Hayes (Raymond, III), Stephanie Barnaba (Gerald) and Demetria Barnaba (Wayne), all of Opelousas, LA, Michelle Barnaba (Morlyn) of Arnaudville, LA and Janet Barnaba of Melville, LA; a bonus daughter, Aanitina Davis (Larry); six brothers, Edward Journet, Nelson Journet, Alvin Journet, Bobby Journet, LeRoy Journet and Brandon Journet; five sisters, Rosa Rabie, Alice Journet, Mary Dardar, Catherine Journetand Elizabeth Celestine; twenty-six grandchildren; thirty-eight great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Mr. Broussard is preceded in death by: his parents, Felton Journet and Alice Broussard; two sons, Gordon and Joseph Ernest Broussard, Jr.; one daughter, Mary Alice Barnaba; one brother, Wilbert White; one granddaughter, Kendesa Castille; and one great grandson, Nicholas Shamir Cormier, Jr.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, July 15, 2023 from 8:00 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. at Community Chapel Church of God In Christ.
