Mr. Timothy Noel Smith, affectionately called “Tim”, passed away on Tuesday Sept. 20, 2022 at his home in South Hill, VA. He was born on December 18, 1967 to the late Helen Smith Alexander and Joseph Smith, Sr. Also preceded him in death were two brothers- Barry “Teedy” and Herbert “Hog” Smith.
Tim graduated from Park View Sr. High School where he played football.
He was a skilled worker and held various jobs to include Matt Wells as a farmer, Virginia Homes in flooring and he worked with Cassel Hite Construction Co. He helped build the US-58 bypass bridge in Clarksville, VA and the Edward Willey Bridge on Chippenham Parkway in Richmond, VA.
Tim enjoyed fishing, playing basketball and football; his favorite football team was the Dallas Cowboys.
Tim leaves to mourn: his daughter who he loved dearly- Taylor Collins and her mother Toredia Collins both of Raleigh, NC; two sisters- Gloria Culbreth of Roseboro, NC and Kimberly Rodriguez of Greensboro, NC; four brothers- Joseph Smith, Jr. of Rochester, NY; Kerry and Aaron Smith of Alberta VA, and Herman Fields of Richmond, VA; two uncles- Deacon Johnny (Mary) Smith of LaCrosse, VA and Aaron Gilliam of Richmond, VA; a dedicated friend- Murphy Buford who was “his brother’s keeper”; employers Roger and Brian Upton whom also supported him during his illness; a host of other relatives and friends.
