MR. PRINCE EDWARD SMITH, affectionately called “DJ Prince”, was born June 15, 1953 in Mecklenburg County, VA to the late Emily Davis Smith and Benjamin Smith and departed this life suddenly January 5, 2021 at his residence, South Hill, VA. He was a graduate of Mecklenburg County Public School. He was married to Annie Mae Thorne on May 4, 1987. Prince was employed in several jobs, namely BGF, the Town of South Hill and lastly was a caregiver for his wife, Annie Mae. In his spare time he enjoyed dancing, singing, doing splits and being with family and friends. He was known in the community as “DJ Prince”. Prince leaves to mourn his wife, Annie Mae Smith of the home; three children- Leslie, Laura, and Prince Smith, Jr. all of Baltimore, MD: step-daughter, Barbara Ann Jones, Bluffton, SC; numerous grands and great-grandchildren; siblings- Cleo (Eddie) Hargrove, Clarksville, VA; Benjamin (Deborah) Smith, Greenfield, IN; Mary E. Spruill, Boydton, VA; Teddy (Deborah) Smith, Petersburg, VA; Larry (Shirley) Smith, Boydton, VA; Regina (Byrd) Johnson, Greensboro, NC; Danny Smith, Danville, VA; Patricia Nettles, Pittsboro, NC, and Aretha (George) Jones, Victoria, VA, and a host of other relatives and friends.
