MS. MAXINE VERNICE ROBINSON, daughter of the late George S. Robinson, Sr. and Mary E. Wright Robinson, was born March 15, 1952, in Mecklenburg County, VA and entered eternal sunshine and joy on June 16, 2024 at Maria Parham Hospital, Henderson, NC. She was also preceded in death by her siblings- Lucy Johnson, Algie “Trent” Robinson, George “Mutt” Robinson and Elaine D. Robinson.
Maxine was baptized at a young age and joined Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist Church in Warrenton, NC. She was a Missionary and sung in the choir.
Maxine attended Cotton Creek Elementary School and graduated from Park View Senior High School in 1970.
Maxine started public work after high school. She worked at Simmons Terminal, Cochrane Furniture, Southern Quilters and Pacific Coastal Feathers until her health declined. She also prepared taxes for clients. She was very good with numbers.
Maxine enjoyed people and loved her family. She wanted to be involved in every “hog scalding.” She believed she could lend a helping hand to everyone in need in which that was the character of her big heart. If anyone had a question, she would do all it took to find the answer. When she did find the answer, she would deliver it with a smile and a good hearty laugh. She was just a barrel of fun. Everyone would stop by her house for their spirits to be lifted.
Maxine leaves to cherish her memories: her 2 sons- Mark “Joe Billy” Robinson, Boydton, VA and Jeremy Robinson, of the home; a bonus son- Jeffrey Talley; her loving friend of 53 years- Joe “ June” Davis, Jr. of the home; grandson- Jahmir Aniyis Taylor Robinson of the home; 4 brothers- James (Deborah) Robinson, Chesterfield, VA; William (Daphne) Robinson; Reginald Robinson (LaVerne) all of Boydton, VA and Michael (Renae) Robinson, Woodbridge, VA; 4 sisters- Ernestine Baskerville, Richmond, VA; Janet Robinson (Clyde), LaGretta (Robert) Carter, all of Wise, NC and Pamela (Wayne) Hicks, Boydton, VA; sister-in-law, Yvonne Robinson, Boydton, VA; 4 aunts- Carrie Ritter, Mt. Vernon, NY; Margaret (Otis) Talley, Baltimore, MD; Cornelia Harcum, Philadelphia, PA and Anna (Tom) Boards, Matawan, NJ; special nieces- Leslie Robinson, Boydton, VA and Michelle Williams, South Hill, VA and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Maxine believed everyone was family. She took in those who had nowhere to go until they could “get on their feet.” She had a lot of extended family, including June’s siblings, Laura Ann (Keith) Taylor, Lena (Harry) Gregory, James Jefferson, Claude, Pamela, Patrick and Bobby Harrington and Min. Angela Richardson; Wesley (Laura) Carrington, Pastor Charles (Annie) Faulcon, Ida Hargrove, Mildred Perry, Jennie Crosson, and many more.
My sincere condolences to the Robinson family. May God be with you during this time and always. Andre Russell
