MOTHER LUE ETHEL CHAVIS COLEMAN, daughter of the late Charlie Faulkner Chavis and the late Mattie Davis Chavis was born March 22, 1941 in Mecklenburg County, VA and was called to her heavenly home on June 12, 2022 at 11:55 AM in VCU- Community Memorial Hospital, South Hill, VA.

At an early age she was baptized and joined Penuel RZUA Church. She attended the Mecklenburg County Public Schools.

Lue Ethel was married to the late John T. Coleman, Jr. on April 23, 1960 and to this union nine children were born. She later joined Gethsemane Baptist Church.

She was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend who spoke her mind and she raised all her nieces, nephews, and children in and outside of the neighborhood. She was famous for her cooking.

Lue Ethel leaves to cherish her memories are her nine children- Edith (Oscar) Coleman-Mosley, South Hill, VA; Shalotta (John) Seward, Lynchburg, VA; Inze LaVern Dillard, Fishersville, VA; Johnathan Coleman (Denise), LaCrosse, VA; Rana (Leroy) Pearson, White Plains, VA; Shawn Coleman, Lynchburg, VA; Darris and Marquette Coleman and Cheserdee Coleman Perry, all of South Hill, VA; adopted son and daughter- Tony and Lena Seward; grandchildren she reared- Quana, Nika, Jy, DaDa, Knoj, Zee, Bam, Trey, and Vay; 22 total grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; one sister- Martha Alice Sallie, Philadelphia, PA; devoted companion- Andrew Grant, Sr. of the home; nine sisters-in-law, Linda Dixon, Sandra, Ella Gray, Pauline, Barbara, Latice, Mamie, Edith and Lena Chavis; two brothers-in-law, Herman and Charles Coleman; devoted nephews- Keith and Gardner Chavis; devoted friends- Carolyn and Nelson Walker and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other friends.
