JAMES ALFRED CRENSHAW, affectionately called “Pete,” was born August 11, 1943 in Baskerville, VA to the late Alfred and Geneva Hansard Crenshaw and departed this life September 15, 2019 in Richmond, VA.
At an early age he was baptized at Bloom Hill Baptist Church. He was a graduate of the former East End High School.
James was employed for over forty years by Burlington Industries until his retirement.
In his spare time he enjoyed spending time with family and friends, laughing and enjoying everyday life to include fishing, listening to the old gospel music and the old R & B songs.
Pete leaves to mourn his loving and devoted companion of 51 years, Geraldine McKnight of the home; 6 children- Oliver Wendell (Arline) Holmes and Benjamin Holmes (Evon) all of Richmond, VA; Tony Holmes of the home; Arnetta (Walter) Rogers; Vanessa (Roger) King and Linda Gayles, all of Richmond, VA; 17 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren; 2 sisters- Lois Anne Reed, Philadelphia, PA and Carolyn Crenshaw, LaCrosse, VA; 1 brother- Robert Lee Crenshaw, LaCrosse, VA; 3 aunts- Bessie Dortch, Novel Evans, and Patricia Williams; 3 uncles- Lewis Hite, Douglas (Barbara) Hansard, and Dwight (Shannon) Hansard, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
