FREDDIE HARRIS was born April 26, 1938 to the late Catheren W. Harris and Raven Harris in Boydton, VA. Freddie went home to glory on June 18, 2024. He was also preceded in death by his sister- Gloria H. Paul and three brothers- Samuel, Lawrence, and Bennie Harris.
Freddie was baptized at William Grove RZUA Church under the pastorate of the late Reverend White. He faithfully attended this church until relocating to New Jersey in 1957. Freddie later joined the Mt. Sinai Baptist Church in Newark, NJ. Freddie served as a Trustee for nine years before he was ordained as a Deacon in June 1998. He was a devoted member where he served on several ministries within the church.
Freddie was educated in the Mecklenburg County Public Schools System. He graduated from East End High School in 1957. Freddie worked for the Hownett Corporation in Dover, NJ as a machine grinder operator for many years until he retired.
Freddie married the late Falor Harris on September 6, 1982 and to this union one son was born. He lived in East Orange, NJ for many years before moving to Union, NJ.
Freddie leaves to cherish his memories: two sons- Nevel “Lamont” Harris and Freddie Harris, Jr., both of Union, NJ; two grandchildren- Kyle and Amiyah Harris; four sisters-in-law, Daisy Walker, Rosa (Richard) Hubbard and Gloria Jones, all of South Hill, VA and Audrey (Errol) Bragg of Lanham, MD; one brother-in-law, Otis (Pam) Jones of Locust Grove, VA, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends that are close to the family.
