MRS. BEATRICE ALEXANDER HICKS, affectionately called “Bea”, daughter of the late Nellie Rose Alexander Davis and Johnnie Davis, was born May 20, 1934 in Mecklenburg County, VA and entered into eternal rest peacefully on March 7, 2022 in VCU-Community Memorial Hospital, South Hill, VA. She was the second child of seven children. Beatrice was also preceded in death by a grandson- Lawrence Thomas, Jr. and son-in-law, Thomas “Plumstick,” Robinson; three brothers- John Henry, George Edward, and James Davis; two sisters- Rebe Davis and Mary “Lip” Jiggetts, and one nephew- Wilson “Man Man” Macklin.
At an early age she was baptized at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, Union Level, VA. She attended the Mecklenburg County Public Schools.
On January 8, 1958 she was married to the late Bernard “Sonny” Hicks. To this union they were blessed with two children.
Beatrice was a loving, hard-working mother, grandmother, sister, and friend who had great determination. During her lifetime she was a “Nanny” to many, a house-keeper, and a cook for Brian’s Steakhouse for over 30 years until her retirement.
Beatrice leaves to mourn one son- Thomas L. Alexander, Sr. of the home; a daughter- Alice Robinson of Bracey, VA; six grandchildren- Thomas (Susanna) Alexander, Jr. of Bracey, VA; Bryan Alexander of Lawrenceville, VA; Faith (Jared) Newton of Union Level, VA; Emmanuel Alexander of the home; Audrey T. Macklin of Richmond, VA and Thomas “Tom Tom” Robinson, Jr. of Bracey, VA; eleven great-grandchildren; one sister- Pearline Mayo of LaCrosse, VA; a brother-in-law, Lawrence (Rosa) Hicks of Richmond, VA; devoted friend- Lisa Alexander, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other friends.
