MRS. AIDA ROSADO WARREN, the first child born to the late Carmen Cruz Colon and Gabriel Rosado in Santurce Puerto Rico on January 2, 1943 and entered eternal rest on Sunday, April 6, 2025 at her home in Hampton, VA. She was also preceded in death by her siblings- Lydia Orellano and Wilfredo Millan and sister-in-law, Jean (Ernest) Alexander.
Aida was married to the late James M. Warren on February 22, 1964 and to this union they were blessed with three children- Aida “Iris” Lizyness, James “Bobby” Warren and Carmen “Lisa” Warren. As a mother, she stood as a strong pillar to her children when James was away serving his country during his military career. She truly loved her family and they loved her.
Momma “Aida” was a dedicated member of Penuel RZUA Church, Boydton, VA where she was a valuable member of the Usher Board, Gospel Choir, Missionary Board, a member of the RZUA Headquarters Chorus and the Hospitality Committee. She was always busy and stayed extremely active doing things for others, from cooking pots of “Arroz Con Gandules,” to hemming a pair of pants for someone on short notice. She was little in stature, but when she was in the room, everyone knew it.
As the years progressed, she and the family moved to Hampton, VA where she worked several jobs; Holiday Inn and Gloria Manufacturing, as a very talented seamstress. She loved making pillows, placemats, blankets, and enjoyed ceramics and macrame’. While being a stay-at-home mom, Aida became a dependable and loving babysitter for her neighborhood friends.
Aida’s memories will continue to live on in the hearts of her three children- Aida “Iris” Lizyness of Puerto Rico; James R. “Bobby” Warren of Hampton, VA and Carmen Lisa (Leon) Johnson of Cameron, NC; grandchildren- Marcus L. (Ebony) Johnson of Cameron, NC; Cameron R. Stockton of Pittsfield, MA; John A. Quinones Lizyness and Iraida Franco Lizyness of Puerto Rico; great-grandchildren- Mya, Makayla, Morgan, Peyton, Quinn, Lucas, Glorynette, Johnanniel, and Lizyness; sisters- Tonia, Cokie, and Lucy. Loving nieces- Delois (Glenn) Garnes, Patrice Alexander, Johanna Millian, Limarie Millan, and Gianni Colon; loving nephews- Ernest (Annette) Alexander, Jr., Joandrew Colon, and Wilfredo Millan; great nephews- Rashaun and Nevin Alexander.
Momma was loved by so many, to name a few- Linda Stratford, Patricia Cross, Jackie Cherry, Juanita Fields, her sister and brother in Christ- Deaconess Mary Bacon and Deacon Clarence Bacon; close friends- Shelia and Dean Jones, Cynthia Hatcher Smith, Shirley and Marie Jeffers, and Jonathan Jones.

I was saddened to hear of Ms. Aida's passing. I was always happy to see her whether it was at a store in south hill or at family gatherings. She kept me laughing with her warm humor and puerto-rican accent. She will be greatly missed. I send sincere condolences to her family and friends.
We are so sorry for your loss. May you find peace and comfort in her loving memories. Aida had such a sweet spirit and kind heart. She will be greatly missed.
To the Family of Aida,
When sorrows come, God's promises are shining rays of hope that break through cloudy skies brings us warmth and helps us cope. He promises to love us and to hear our every prayer. He promises to comfort and guide us and to always just be there. He also promises to give us strength to weather any storm and to be someone we can lean on who will keep us safe. God will never leave us alone when skies are gray. As long as we believe and trust, his love will light our way(Hebrews 13:5). Take all the time you need to grieve. It's ok to cry and mourn, never let anyone tell you any different. Remember, even Jesus wept when he found out that Lazarus died(John 11:33-35). Aida will truly be missed by many. She was a kind person and always had a smile on her face. I will miss seeing her at the RZUA Headquarters meetings/services.
Our staff will continue to keep your family in our prayers. We thank you for allowing us to serve your family.
