Rembering Ms. Leola for the spunky lady that she was. Never letting dirt or grass grow under her feet. Always with a smile when she visited Rhonda, Ashley and Robby. It was some 20 years ago when I her met and 20yr later, she looked the same and act her same Angelica self. Her spirit and beautiful soul will be missed, but never forgotten. To my wonderful Auntie Leola one who never really grew old, her smile was made of sunshine, and her heart was solid gold. I will cherish all the memories.

Rhonda, As I think about your mother, I am reminded of the many adventures we children shared, on that one block of 26th Street. While we played outside in that blazing summer heat, ripping and running between 40th and 42nd Avenues, like we lost our minds, we were having the time of our lives. Life was so simple back then, and we had not a care in the world. We scraped our pennies together, and raced to Cunningham and Hanks Store, for honey buns, two for a penny cookies, and Nehi sodas. And while we (you, me, Karen, Cecil, Ted, Robbie, Hubert, Warren, Creighton, and Daryl, played outside until the sun went down, our mothers, Mrs. Cooper, Mrs. Miller, Mrs. Hughley, and Mrs. Brayboy, socialized, and enjoyed their much needed time together, away from us. I remember your mothers gentle spirit, and warm smile. She was special to all of us. And the fact that she shared her birthday with my mother, made her even more special to me. Leola Lowe Brayboy, Mrs. Leola and her family were our around the corner next street over neighbor. My mother Mrs. Rosa Jenkins and Mrs. Leola Brayboy were friends, neighbors and compadres who were always up to stuff(smile) and traveled the Carver Ranches to West Park community road together. They had so many happy and life affirming experiences on that road they travelled, and our family (The Jenkins) and her family (The Brayboys) were on that road with them, you fought the good fight Mrs. Leola, and we will miss you. Mrs. Leola and Mrs. Rosa are both in the next phase of their sojourn. Family, Ms. Leola is on the road to her spiritual existence, Mrs. Leola, embrace it and be not afraid.
