Obituary For Zondra Jean Byrd

Ms. Zondra Jean Byrd, 56, passed away on November 26, 2023, at Atrium Health Cleveland in Shelby, NC. She was born on December 21, 1966 in Cleveland County, NC to the late Bobby Byrd, Sr. and the late Zora Dillingham Byrd Powell.

Zondra was a 1986 graduate of Burns High School. She worked as a private caregiver for many years until her health declined. Zondra was a definite people person who even if you didn’t know her, she made you think she did. Although bossy at times, she loved her family and adored her grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Deborah Ann Byrd and Eureka Banks and a brother, Bobby Byrd, Jr.

She leaves to cherish her memory to her daughter, Kenyottia Byrd of Shelby; two sisters, Betty Dillingham of Lawndale, NC and Tosha Jackson (Thomas) of Gastonia, NC; her grandchildren, Gabrielle Morgan, Nahla Morgan and Adonis Morgan; nephew, Montrel Dillingham; two nieces, Teaerra Jackson and Denisha Banks; “special daughters”, Shen Haynes and Nickey Guest; “special grandchildren”, Jashay Lockhart and Charell Morgan; her aunts, Dorothy Johnson, Betty Barnhardt, Martha Coates and Norvel Lenox; a cousin who was like a sister, Teresa Lackey; special friends, Delbert Milline, Polly Spikes, Melody Russell and Shelia Lawrence; her caregiver, Carissa Deal and a host of great-nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 2, 2023 at 11:00 AM at First Baptist Church of Lawndale. The family will receive friends from 10:30 AM until 11:00 AM on Saturday and at other times at 2823 Philadelphia Road, Lawndale.

Our condolences to Zonfra's family. I was visiting First Baptist of Lawndale that Sunday morning when she was baptized. Oh what a happy day that was. Now she will see our Lord and Saviour face to face. We will surely miss Zondra sitting on the front porch and in the lobby greeting and talking to all our visitors.
